'Jo Can Do' is me, Joanna Candler, based in Chartham near Canterbury, Kent.

I taught EFL for many years, but then I moved over to academic administration in a successful distance learning programme. I became very interested in the potential of technology for learning and teaching. So I decided to study Information Systems — a by-product of which was I taught myself a lot about building websites.
This all really came out of a deep-aqua aerobics session...Someone mentioned (as we swam along) that she wanted to build a website for her company but wasn't happy with the web companies she had been in touch with. Suddenly I found myself holding business meetings whilst doing "spotty dogs" in the pool.

This led me to a whole new world of entrepreneurial women, starting their own businesses and inspiring me to do the same. But many of these women didn't know where to start when it came to getting their own website, and didn't have much money to spare. There seemed to be a real need for a smaller-scale, personal approach — listening to what they want, rather than trying to sell them what you've got. I'm still learning — I try harder!
So, this project started thanks to the support, encouragement and inspiration of my first clients - Sue at Lovelli, Kirsty at Fitness Ballet and Sue at Yogasoo, who keep assuring me that "Jo Can Do". Thank you!
